Our producers are primarily women who through their craft making and regular workshop training have built up a repertoire of skills that have enabled them to become more confident and resourceful as business women in their communities. They keep a record of what they produce and have received training on how to grade and price their wares. In addition a number of the craft groups offer women opportunities to address health and safety issues in the community, as well as giving them a forum to develop their public speaking skills.

Women in rural areas have very busy lives - they take on many of the chores that keep the homesteads going, such as ploughing, harvesting, keeping vegetable gardens, collecting firewood, cooking and looking after the children. The money they earn is vital to help pay clinic and school fees and in this way has a huge impact on the outcome of their children’s lives.
